The Vinyl Session Album Release Concert

Steve Millhouse - Contrabass Guitar, Tim Armacost - Tenor Saxophone, Allen Farnham - Piano, Adam Nussbaum - Drums

The Vinyl Session is the third album from my trio dedicated exclusively to reimagining cinematic themes that became jazz standards. While rooted in the classic piano trio tradition, this record introduces a distinct, modern texture through my use of the 6-string electric bass. Rather than sticking strictly to the traditional bassline anchor, the instrument expands into a multi-dimensional voice—playing the sweeping melody on "Golden Earrings," comping chords like a guitar on "A Felicidade," and delivering intricate chord/melody intros on "A Felicidade" and "Alice in Wonderland" and offering exciting melodic solos on all tracks. The trio now includes Adam Nussbaum on drums, Allen Farnham (featured specifically on My Foolish Heart) is back on piano, and for this album Tim Armacost joins the trio on A Felicidade as a special guest. The album was recorded with the specific intention of a vinyl release, so it's four songs and just over 40 minutes. It will also be available on CD and across all digital streaming platforms. The arrangements feature everyone in different ways and combinations to keep the listener engaged. The length of each track is more similar to a live recording where every musician gets to stretch out, tell a story, and contribute to a larger narrative arc.
